Blackjack Variations: Multi-Hand Blackjack

Multiply the Fun with Multi-Hand Blackjack

Online blackjack is a casino card game that is fun and exciting. Online multi-hand blackjack is five times the fun and five times the excitement. With multi-hand blackjack, you can play up to five hands of blackjack at a time, each one separate from the others, each one offering the chance to win.

Play Online Blackjack

The goal and rules of multi-hand blackjack echo those of regular online blackjack. The goal is to beat the dealer by collecting cards that total as close as possible to 21 without going over. Picture cards are worth 10, aces are worth either 1 or 11, and all other cards are worth the value on the face of the card. If your hand is closer to 21 than the dealer's, you win at blackjack. If the dealer's hand is closer to 21 than yours, you lose. If you and the dealer tie by having hands of equal value, you get your money back. If you or the dealer go over 21, it's called busting; if you bust you lose (even if the dealer busts too).

Varieties of Multi-Hand Blackjack Games

Just like single-hand blackjack, multi-hand blackjack comes in a wide variety of flavors. Wild Jack Online Casino offers Multi-Hand Classic Blackjack Gold, Multi-Hand Atlantic City Blackjack, Multi-Hand European Blackjack, Multi-Hand Vegas Strip blackjack, and more. The games differ in the fine points of the blackjack rules, such as how many decks are used, whether the dealer hits or stands on soft 17, whether doubling down is permitted after splitting, and whether surrender is allowed.

There are also multi-hand versions of some of the more unusual blackjack games. Wild Jack has Multi-Hand Pontoon Blackjack, Multi-Hand Bonus Blackjack, Multi-Hand Double Exposure Blackjack, and Multi-Hand Spanish Blackjack. With all these variations, you are sure to find a way that is just right for you to play multi-hand blackjack online.

Playing Multi-Hand Blackjack

The first step in playing multi-hand blackjack is deciding how many hands you want to play. The choice is yours: anywhere from one to five hands. You indicate your decision by placing bets in the betting circle for each of the hands you want to play. And remember, each hand is independent, so you can bet different amounts on different hands.

After your bets have been placed on the appropriate areas of the multi-hand blackjack table, the dealer deals the cards: two cards to each of your blackjack hands, and two cards to himself. (The dealer plays only one hand; each of your hands is competing against the dealer's hand, not against each other.) The game then proceeds according to the rules of the particular multi-hand blackjack game you have chosen. You play each of your hands in sequence. You might hit on one hand, stand on another, double down on one, split on one, and surrender on one. If you split, you could even find yourself playing six or even more hands of blackjack at the same time.

After you have played all your hands, the dealer plays his hand, as in any blackjack game. Since each of your hands is independent, you could easily win some of your hands, lose some, and even push some, all in the same round of multi-hand blackjack.

The best hand in multi-hand blackjack is a two-card 21 (an ace and a 10-value card), also known as a blackjack (or a natural). You can't lose with a blackjack; the "worst" you can do is push (tie with the dealer). The payouts in most multi-hand blackjack variations are also similar to regular blackjack. A winning hand (a hand that beats the dealer) pays even money. A blackjack pays 3:2.

Multi-Hand Blackjack Online

There are land-based casinos that will allow you to play more than one hand of blackjack, but you will find that the experience is not a pleasant one. The problem is that it takes more time to play five hands than to play one hand, especially if you think about what you are doing (which is not a bad idea when playing blackjack). The dealer will get impatient, the other blackjack players will get impatient, and you will end up feeling harassed and unable to concentrate.

Multi-hand blackjack is a lot different in an online casino. No one will rush you, no one will pressure you, no one will make you feel uncomfortable. In the online casino, you can take your time, think about your blackjack strategies, and play multi-hand blackjack the way you want to play it: fast, slow, or in between.

The basic blackjack strategy can be used in online multi-hand blackjack. In fact, it is highly recommended. In a sense, it is easier to win in multi-hand blackjack since you are controlling more of the cards; in reality, the odds are the same. You can just win more or lose more in each round, but the rate of winning and losing stays pretty much apace with regular single-hand blackjack. Only the excitement is multiplied.
