Bonus Blackjack is an interesting variation of online blackjack. It is similar to original casino blackjack, but with the added excitement of an optional bonus bet that pays out big jackpots for certain two-card combinations.

The bonuses are what Bonus Blackjack such a special blackjack game. The bonuses in Bonus Blackjack are based solely on the first two cards dealt to the player. The Bonus Blackjack bonuses are:
It is worth repeating that it is only the first two cards that count toward the bonus. In the illustration above, the player's first two cards were 2 of spades and king of spades, entitling the player to the 5-to-2 bonus for cards of the same suit. The fact that the player's third card was a 5 of hearts is irrelevant to the bonus.
Moreover, the bonus is not affected by the outcome of the blackjack game. In the illustration, the player's cards add up to 17. If the dealer had had a hand of 18, the player would have lost the blackjack game, but still won the 5-to-2 bonus.
Finally, it should go without saying that any two cards that total 21 is a blackjack and pays 3 to 2 even if it doesn't win one of the special bonuses of Bonus Blackjack. This is a standard blackjack rule in most blackjack games, and it is no different in Bonus Blackjack.
The bonus bet in Bonus Blackjack is optional (though the bonus is really the whole point of playing Bonus Blackjack). In order to be eligible for the bonus, you must place a bet on the "Jackpot" part of the table. The maximum bonus bet is $25. So if, for instance, you make a real-money bet of $25 and you are lucky enough to get a Jack of spades and an Ace of spades, you will win $1,250 (as per the 50:1 payout mentioned above), plus your original bet. Remember, to guarantee a shot at that bonus, you must place a bet on the "Jackpot" section of the virtual blackjack table. |

Other than the special bonuses offered, the rules of Bonus Blackjack are just about the same as regular blackjack rules. A Bonus Blackjack game is played with two regular decks, and the dealer must hit on a soft 17. The player can double down on any two cards, and he can double down after a split. He can also split three times to create four hands. Any pair of ten-rated cards can be split (not just identical cards). Aces can be split only once (and a split ace and a 10 is considered a 21, not a blackjack). There is no surrender option in Bonus Blackjack.
Bonus Blackjack basic strategy is very similar to the regular blackjack basic strategy. Because the rules are basically the same — except for the bonus option, which doesn't really affect the strategy — you can and should study the regular blackjack basic-strategy chart before you play Bonus Blackjack online.
